FEIRA DA BATATA DOCE * SWEET POTATO MARKET

Reza a lenda que a batata-doce esteve na base da conquista do Castelo de Aljezur em 1249. Segundo consta os cavaleiros da Ordem de Santiago, chefiados por D. Paio Peres Correia, antes da batalha tomaram uma poção feita à base de batata-doce que lhes deu força acrescida e permitiu derrotar os mouros. Desde então esta batata é cultivada nas charnecas da região, cuja combinação única, do sol, da terra, da água, do ar e do clima, permitem fazer desta batata um produto único de grande qualidade e de sabor diferenciado, que deve experimentar.

Legend has it that the sweet potato was at the base of the conquest of the castle of Aljezur in 1249. Reportedly the knights of the order of Santiago, headed by D.
